Abstract

Det intensiva vårdandet som företeelse

Disputerade på en avhandling om patienters upplevelser av respiratorbehandling och vård 1989.

Avhandlingen består av fyra artiklar och en ramberättelse. Avhandlingen var en av de första i Norden och inom vårdvetenskapen som utgick från patienters upplevelser och utsagor av behandling och vård.

Efter avhandlingsarbetet har jag fortsatt med forskning inom intensivvårdsområdet (kommunikation med patienter som respiratorbehandlas, giving up syndromet) perioperativ vård, dagkirurgisk vård, återhämtning i samband med allvarlig sjukdom/skada och vårdandet som företeelse. Forskningen inom intensivvård är koncentrerad till det intensiva vårdandet som företeelse och dess resultat eller effekter på patienter, närstående och vårdare. Den forskning som jag numera huvudsakligen bedriver inom intensivvård sker tillsammans med doktorander. Dessa huvudområden är: Att vårdas i högteknologiska miljöer, att vara närståendes till patienter som intensivvårdas, familjens/närståendes närvaro och besök och dess betydelse för patienten, overklighetsupplevelser och dess inverkan på patientens liv, minnen från intensivvårdstiden och dess betydelse för patienten.

I det perioperativa forskningsområdet  pågår studier om ”kroppen” som sederad, bedövad och att vara utan medvetande, samt att förbereda sig för operation och att vänta, genomgå operation utan att känna sig sjuk, men vara det.

Har publicerat cirka 50-talet orginalartiklar, skrivit två läroböcker och ett antal lärobokskapitel , samt presenterat abstracts och posters i ett 50 tal olika sammanhang, nationellt och internationellt.
